helloton - To clairfy what Carey said - It would depend on if the seller is including the coupon for Windows 7 with your copy of Vista.

Hi--Okay--I am wondering if I purchase the copy of Windows Vista Ultimate as seen at this link will I be eligible for the free upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate? This seller is offering an upgrade coupon as a part of his sale. Please check the link and let me know ASAP. Well, according to the seller, it includes a Win7 upgrade coupon. The product description and pictures help support that (it's a Vista xxx w/ SP1 package.)But, why (and how?) is that person selling a $320 package & license for $200? :?That said, buyer beware. ;)-Chris[If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. That is the reason I shop on Ebay--Amazing deals! Vista Ultimate NIB without a coupon can be easily had for under $100. with a little patience. I have purchased on Ebay close to 50 times with almost no problems whatsoever. I say 'almost' because a couple of games I bought would not work online, so now I buy only 'new' software there. Software purchases are one of the trickier/risky areas, and Microsoft has not beeen very clear IMO re the eligibility rules for free upgrade to Win 7. I would like to hear from a moderator on this to be sure, but thanks for your input anyways.

The bottom line here is that you are responsible. It 'sounds' like an excellent deal, the normal price for the full boxed version is around 120 USD more than that price. Just make sure that you do all of your homework before deciding to buy.The only thing that bothers me about thisdeal is that I don't believe that a coupon is needed for this offer, just an onlineretail store proof of purchase. The only offer that I'm aware of that provides a coupon is when you purchase a new computer with Vista pre-installed and you get a coupon for a free version of Windows 7 after the general release date. Here is the Microsoft Store website for the sameoffer. Be sure and read the info at the bottom of this page.Windows Vista Ultimate with SP1 32-bit (Full Version) - Buy andget a free comparable version of Windows 7See the following validation websiteformore details. This is the website where you apply for the free copy of Windows 7 after October 22, 2009.Validation Page Also, read the additional Terms and Conditions.Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

I received this email this morning after making a phone inquiry with the Windows 7 upgrade Program team. This cleary states that there are coupons provided with qualifying packaged Vista Operating systems, not just new comps with Vista installed. And also it is a clear indication that new unopened Vista OS with the Windows 7 upgrade coupon/black postcard enclosed that are purchased on Ebay will be eligible for free upgrade to the corresponding version of Windows 7. I hope that this is reliable as I may go ahead and make this purchase today. Once I receive the Vista OS can I submit the upgrade request online immediately to see if all goes as it should? Hello Norman, Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program Team. We understand that you are asking if you are eligible for the Windows 7 Free Upgrade Option Program if you purchase a Windows Vista Ultimate today at ebay. Regarding this matter, yes, you will be eligible for the Microsoft Windows 7 Free Upgrade Option Program if you will going to purchase a Windows Vista Ultimate operating system today on ebay as long as the product that you will be purchasing is full packaged product (FPP). Meaning the box or the package is sealed and not yet open, and as georgina told you a while ago it comes with a black postcard. If you have any other questions about the Microsoft Windows 7 Free Upgrade Option Program you can log on online on our website which is: www.windows7upgradeoption.com or www.microsoft.com./windows/windows-7/upgrade-advisor Kind regards, Agent Michael Vincent G. Hi DiGiTaL16 Thank you very much for finding that information and posting back here. Thisclarifies a lot of questions that we did not have the information to answer. It looks like that website is operated by Arvato Digital Services, which is probably the organization that is doing the fullfillment for the free Windows 7 offer. Thanks again.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

It was, as the seller advertised - sealed anda perfectly good license.

Wolfie:I didn't say that it wasn't possible. ;)But, I tend to look at something like that with a "what's wrong here? Is this for real?" point of view. I'm not saying that it can't happen. Just that the (potential) buyer should be careful, is all.[If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message.
